Yacht charter Istra
Easily accessible and ideal for a sailing trip in Istria
Istria is one of the most popular sailing areas in Croatia. Especially South German and Austrian crews like to start their sailing vacations in the north, because the journey is relatively easy and short. Not for nothing you can find a large selection of catamarans, motor yachts and sailboats. Istria offers an ideal starting point to discover the north of the Adriatic Sea. Many yacht charter guests combine a cruise in Istria with a sailing trip in Kvarner.
Rent a boat Istria
This destination is so popular for charter guests because of its crystal clear waters and countless anchorages. Yacht charter Istria has few small islands and the Brijuni National Park. Nevertheless, the sailing area is very popular. Now why is that?
Firstly because of its easy accessibility by car. On the other hand, the peninsula is very well developed. Charter guests will find a large choice of motor yachts, sailing yachts and catamarans. And of course yacht charter Istria offers a cultural background. Especially the cities of Pula and Rovinj are visited by many tourists every year. Rovinj is almost picturesque and throughout the town you can find small streets, stairs and cozy konobas. In the 18th century the small island was connected with the mainland. The sea was filled up and thus the infrastructure was significantly improved.
Yacht charter Pula in Istra
Pula is also very popular. The amphitheater is known worldwide and dates back to the second century BC. Events are held there regularly and life flourishes around it during the vacation season. Walking in the city of Pula you can find other historical buildings from the Middle Ages and even from ancient times.
Brijuni National Park Istria
Just outside Pula is the Brijuni National Park, which is very popular with charter guests. The 14 small islands and the national park itself can only be visited with a guided tour. But this is the best way to discover the many plant species and especially the protected fauna. By the way, the former head of state of Yugoslavia had one of his summer houses on the main island. The safari park, which was established even then, still exists today. In Tito's time, his international guests used to bring exotic animal species as gifts, which were settled on the area.
The guided tours are well organized and you can find the offer on every corner, so to speak. But the excursion is worthwhile and with a yacht is one comes from Pula or Vrsar as good as past.
From Pula to the southern tip of Istria there are many wrecks and spots for divers. On the one hand some battles took place here and on the other hand there are many caves and steep slopes. The current offers enough food and so the underwater world is more pronounced in some places than elsewhere. Divers and snorkelers will definitely get their money's worth. We recommend in any case a guided diving tour, because one gets the historical background.
Start your yacht charter Istria - You will discover many sights on your sailing trip Istria, but from experience it takes more than a decade to have visited all the great places. So the trip to Istria sailing area is definitely worthwhile!

Sailing trip Istria
Day 1
We recommend you either book early and thus have an early check-in so you can depart as early as possible, or use the first evening to visit Pula. From Pula, depending on the wind, it is best to sail towards Susak, or Unije. Both islands offer well protected bays and make sailors' hearts beat faster.
Day 2 - Mali Losinj
On the second day we recommend a visit to the island of Mali Losinj. From Susak, for example, it is only 9 NM to Mali Losinj. In the town there are some stores, many cafes and good restaurants. By the way, in the harbor bay of Mali Losinj you can also exit directly from the west side of the island to the east side, if that is desired. There is a small bridge that is always opened to allow yachts to pass through the small channel. But please be aware of the current. Especially when the bora is stronger, bigger waves form on the east side and whip through the channel. Since the channel is not really wide, some sailing yachts have come into contact with the shore. For safety's sake, fenders should be attached in any case.
If you don't dare to pass through, or if the weather conditions don't allow it, you can continue towards Ilovik in the south of Mali Losinj.
Day 3 - Rab
From Mali Losinj to Rab it is about 25 NM. That means, at medium speed the distance should be covered in 4-6 hours. Rab is definitely worth a side trip. The old town lights up in the evening and there are many narrow, winding streets and stores.
Day 4 - Kvarner
Coming from Rab we continue towards Stara Baska. If you like to take your time, you can also visit the former prison island "Goli Otok". The former "Alcatraz" of Croatia was operated as a high security prison after the Second World War until 1988. The inmates were mostly male and the women were housed on the neighboring island "Sveti Grgur". Today, the former prisons are among popular destinations for excursions.
In the Marina Punat on Krk it is now time to store, fill up with water and put your feet up!
Day 5 - Cres
Now, as always, there are several options. Either you sail north around the island of Cres, or you sail back and round the island of Cres at its southern point. Cres offers a lot of small bays in the south, which invite you to swim. In addition, via the southern route you can also reach the small town of Osor. It connects the island of Cres with the island of Mali Losinj and the bridge opens only twice a day (09:00 and 17:00). Again, be careful when passing through - but a visit to Konoba Bonifacic and the rustic village is definitely worth it.
Day 6 - Pula & Veruda
Now, unfortunately, it's time to continue north. But with a little luck, you will experience a wonderful sailing day and comfortably sail into Pula. Quite popular is also the National Park Istria.
This route is just an example and you should definitely check the weather forecast to take advantage of the wind accordingly. In any case, it does not matter in which direction you sail the cruise. This way you remain absolutely flexible and can always decide what is better for you.
If you have any questions, we will of course be happy to support you personally!
