Yacht charter Split

Split is an ideal place for a yacht charter in Dalmatia. The city is located in central Dalmatia and therefore offers many opportunities for a wonderful sailing vacation. Of course you can also rent a motor yacht and make Split your base for an island hopping. In addition, the coast also offers wonderful places and destinations for a Dalmatia charter.

The journey can be made via the airport, which is located west of Split. Alternatively, you can take the A1 highway, which leads from Zagreb to Dubrovnik. From the Dugopolje exit, you can reach the port via the D1 trunk road if you rent a yacht in Split. The Adriatic metropolis is scenic from Rijeka. However, the journey for sailing in Central Dalmatia is very long via this connection.

Charter a sailing yacht or sailboat and discover Split

It is no problem to rent a catamaran and use Split as a starting point to get to know Dalmatia. In any case, time should be planned for sightseeing of the second largest city and its surroundings. The city center is on the UNESCO World Heritage list and has a number of sights. An imposing fortress-like structure is Diocletian's Palace, built by the Romans about 1,800 years ago. In general, a visit to the old town on a yacht charter in Split is a journey back in time to glorious Rome.

The lively city offers numerous restaurants, bars and clubs where it is good to party. Split is considered the city with the liveliest nightlife in the whole country. Around the Adriatic metropolis there are numerous bays with beautiful beaches. One of the few sandy beaches in Croatia is Bacvice where the Blue Flag flies. Also a walk through the park Sustipan on the peninsula Marjan is worthwhile if you rent a catamaran in Split. Art lovers can visit the gallery of the famous sculptor Ivan Mestrovic, which is also located on the peninsula. Outside the city is the fortress Klis, which had an important meaning for Dalmatia in the Middle Ages.

The marina Split - sailing area

ACI Marina is the largest marina in Split - not far from Kastela & Trogir and well suited for passengers. It is located on the southwestern shore of the bay in front of the old town and is only a stone's throw away from the Marjan peninsula. At it begins the "Lungomare", which is one of the most beautiful promenades of the Adriatic. A fixed breakwater protects the marina for waves and wind. During the yacht charter from Split attention is required when entering and leaving the port, as the city harbor opposite is the destination of numerous ferries. The big ships have right of way and should not be disturbed during their maneuvers. The marina offers everything you need for a good time before starting the yacht charter in Central Dalmatia. There is parking at the marina. Besides ACI Marina there are other small marinas in and around Split.

Rent a yacht in Split & experience a first class sailing trip

The stable, mild Mediterranean climate is perfect for renting a yacht in Split. The prevailing wind is the maestral, which blows steadily from the sea. The bora can be treacherous, blowing as a downdraft from the land without warning, sometimes stormy. The sirocco (or jugo) blows from the south into the Adriatic. It can become stormy, but slowly increases in intensity. Thus, it hardly becomes dangerous when you charter a sailing yacht in Split.

As destinations for yacht rental in Split the islands off the coast are ideal. Dubrovnik in the south is also reachable. On the central Dalmatian coast Trogir and Kastela are worth a visit.

The southern islands of Split

If you rent a yacht in Split, more islands await you behind Brač. Hvar is a long island, whose main town of the same name in the southeast is quite touristy. In summer, wild parties are celebrated here. Then, however, there is hardly any room to moor while sailing in central Dalmatia. Above the old town, which is well worth seeing, lies the Spanish Fortress, which offers a magnificent panoramic view. If you like it quieter, visit the nearby island of Marinkovac, which offers good swimming opportunities.

Vis is a smaller island located southwest of Hvar. It is worth chartering a sailing yacht in Split to visit the island. The island is characterized by viticulture. Besides the main town of Vis, there is a wide bay on the west side with the town of Komiza, which has a pretty old town. However, the highlight is on the smaller, neighboring island of Biševo. On the east coast is the "Blue Grotto", which shimmers blue due to the incidence of sunlight. The best time to visit is between 10 and 12 o'clock. There is an entrance fee, unfortunately it is very crowded in summer.

Another destination for a yacht charter in Dalmatia is the island of Korčula. On the west side is the deeply incising bay of Vela Luka. A short hike to the large cave is worthwhile. People are said to have lived here in the Stone Age. To the northeast is the main town of Korčula. There is a museum in the house where Marco Polo was born. The pretty old town is also worth a visit. South of Korčula is the Lastovo Nature Park with small islands, impressive cliffs and coral reefs. Sea caves are also waiting to be discovered here if you rent a yacht in Split.
